Material Handler 

Location: Kentwood, MI
Shift: 2nd shift 12pm-8pm
Pay: $20-$22/hr

Position Summary:
Unloads bulk liquids from delivery vehicles to designated storage tanks using pumps, filters and valves. Loads bulk liquids into tanker trucks, drums, kegs, and pails. Follows all proper procedures for loading and unloading material. Positions oil trucks and railcars. Prints bills of ladings. Pulls and analyzes samples.

Essential Functions:

  • Climbs ladders on tanker trucks and loads oil from the top of the truck.
  • Performs product quality testing in accordance with guidelines and standard test methods.
  • Ensures all incoming and outgoing bulk liquids meet quality requirements.
  • Verifies manifest paperwork with truckloads with unloading instructions to ensure accurate offloading to correct tanks.
  • Ensures proper quantities are transferred and tanks are properly filled.
  • Makes barcoded labels by entering in relevant details in the computer system.
  • Assist with physical inventory counts and processes.
  • Monitors hoses when loading to ensure no leaks or spills occur.
  • Performs calculations to determine appropriate mixtures, weights and volumes to meet order specifications.
  • Ensures incoming and outgoing orders are properly documented.
  • Ensures all additives are properly labeled and stored in a safe manner and that all empty drums and pails are disposed of in the proper manner.
  • Promptly reports leaks and spills and cleans up as required.
  • May assist with other material handling duties such as restocking non-bulk material, transporting empty containers to the proper disposal area, and transporting and disposing of waste material in the proper area.
  • Follows all safety, environmental, and regulatory policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to regularly lift and move 10-70 pounds and roll a drum up to 500 pounds with assistance
  • Ability to learn from directions, observations, and mistakes and apply procedures using good judgment
