Position Overview

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for repairs on all plant machinery and equipment, both electrical and mechanical, and the plant building and offices. Additionally, they will be required to assist in the construction of new equipment and buildings as required for plant operations. (2nd SHIFT HOURS MAY VARY DURING THE FIRST 3-6 MONTH TRAINING PERIOD)

Role and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for repairs on all plant machinery and equipment both electrical and mechanical, and the plant building and offices.
  • Will be required to assist in the construction of new equipment and buildings as required for plant operations.
  • Maintain repair logs on all equipment repairs: date, cause of breakdown, description of repair, parts required, and time required for repair.
  • Requisition of necessary spare parts and replacement parts for plant and equipment and maintaining reasonable inventory of spare parts.
  • Requisition of general-purpose hardware items such as nuts, bolts, washers, pins, etc.
  • Maintaining work area of any area in which repairs or work is performed in a clean, orderly, and safe condition.
  • Advise of any manufacturing procedure that may be causing excessive wear or damage to equipment.

REPORTING

The Maintenance Mechanic reports to the Maintenance Supervisor, who will designate repair and maintenance work and priorities.

REQUIREMENTS – SKILLS

The position requires the ability to read and understand blueprints, both mechanical and hydraulic, and electrical schematics of equipment control circuits. Also required is the ability to operate various tool room equipment, such as lathe, milling machine, surface grinder, etc.

REQUIREMENTS – TOOLS

The Maintenance Mechanic is required to have their own reasonably complete set of tools which are required in the performance of their duties. The company will provide specialized tools required in the repair of some equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

A high school diploma or GED. The ability to read and understand blueprints, both mechanical and hydraulic, and electrical schematics of equipment control circuits. Also required is the ability to operate various tool room equipment, such as lathe, milling machine, surface grinder, etc. Must have a driver's license.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $26.00 – $30.00 per hour
