The VP, Commercial Lender is responsible for establishing, developing, and overseeing client relationships. They act as a trusted advisor who contributes to client success. The role of the Commercial Lender is to build market position, achieve financial growth, and nurture client relationships. They create momentum and brand recognition within our communities, Commercial Lender facilitate, negotiate, and screen new business opportunities. They coordinate the closing of consumer, residential, equipment, and commercial business loans and manage loan renewals in compliance with the Bank’s lending policies and procedures. They identify and secure the full depth of the client’s banking requirements to include loans, deposits, personal and business needs. It is their job to work with the internal credit administration, loan operations, treasury management, and branch teams to increase business opportunities and consistently deliver a high-quality client experience. The Commercial Lender is an active member in the communities in which they serve.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Key clients’ first point of contact to coordinate all banking needs.
- Develops a consistent pipeline of prospective clients by being involved in the community. Community involvement includes attending networking events, possibly sitting on a board, and volunteering within our communities. They are actively involved in instilling and maintaining an advisory environment through education of the Bank’s products and services.
- Creates momentum and Brand recognition within our communities. Thinks outside the box on ways to disrupt the market.
- Interviews prospective clients and requests specified information related to loan or credit application; provides recap letter within 24 hours; corresponds or re-interviews clients to resolve questions regarding application information.
- Performs pre-qualification assessment and analysis of financial condition and risk of financing requests within framework of Bank credit culture and current economic and industry trends.
- Meets with existing or potential clients; visits sites of loans; negotiates loan terms and conditions; approves loans within established lending limits or refers and recommends acceptance to the Chief Credit Officer or Loan Committee.
- Gathers, analyzes and ensures accuracy of all information necessary to present a financing request to Senior Management or Loan Committee for approval. Reviews loan presentation for quality and accuracy prior to submission to loan committee.
- Partners with Loan Operations to coordinate processing of approved loans; ensures loans are processed according to agreement, customer needs and conform to Bank lending policies; obtains sufficient information and/or documentation from customers; solves problems relative to processing and servicing of loans within his or her portfolio; approves loan disbursements in accordance with agreements.
- Negotiates, underwrites and processes timely renewals of loans.
- Cross sells the Bank’s other products and services. Takes a leadership role in getting the right people involved to secure the full banking relationship. Partners with treasury management, office managers and others as appropriate.
- Updates and corresponds with legal counsel and collectors on workouts, bankruptcies, and charge-offs to ensure all possible precautionary actions or measures are taken.

- Provides leadership and training to less experienced loan officers and other staff members. Participates in various internal committees as assigned
- Responds to referrals from other departments and provides timely follow through with customers and/or staff involved.
- Develops and maintains knowledge of financial industry, economy, market conditions, rates, vendors and competition
- Reinforces the Bank’s commitment to consistently deliver a high-quality client experience through his or her own example along with appropriate follow through with involved clients and colleagues. Works closely with all lines of business to ensure seamless customer service and support.

- Ensures that the Bank’s Brand and professional reputation is maintained throughout lending and business transactions with clients.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

- Bachelor’s degree, preferred in business, finance or accounting.
- Three (3) years’ of credit lending experience.
- Strong relationship building and communication skills.
- Ability to quickly adapt to different environments, and unpredictable situations.
- Experience in credit analyst software, strong analytical skills
- Microsoft Office suite advanced-proficient competency, especially Excel
